What I built.

Built the whole product myself: planning, design, sign-in, live messaging and setup.

One-click Login with Google, so people join in seconds without a new password.

Messages appear for everyone the moment they are sent, yours on the right and everyone else’s on the left, each with a name and photo.

Only signed-in users can reach the chat room; everyone else goes back to the login page.

Runs on Firebase, so there are no servers to maintain and hosting costs stay low.

React 18 and Vite SPA on Firebase Authentication (Google, redirect flow) and Cloud Firestore.

An auth context that renders children only after the first auth check, preventing a wrong redirect on refresh.

A Firestore onSnapshot listener streaming messages live, with serverTimestamp() so ordering uses server time.

A PrivateRoute guard with replace redirects, and auto-scroll to the newest message.

Tailwind and DaisyUI styling; Firebase keys read from Vite environment variables, never committed.
